Drills To safely and adequately respond to hazardous materials events, the Team must
routinely participate in drills. Though table-top drills are a common tool used for readiness, a full scale, multi-agency event is the
best exercise for total preparedness. Full scale drills identify weaknesses and strengths not only of the Team itself, but how the Team interacts with other emergency organizations.
Presentations
If you would like a presentation given to your organization, class, or club; contact Lt. Ed Schuler at 803-208-8249 or email.
Industrial Facility Walkdowns and Preplans
To aid the Team in preparedness for emergency events and provide constuctive suggestions for HazMat improvements, the Team conducts industrial facility walkdowns and preplans.
Team representatives will gladly visit any private or government facility within the Aiken County HazMat Team response area to become better acquinted with facility hazards and facility personnel. Completed preplans are maintained on the HazMat response vehicle to be used in case of a hazardous materials emergency.
It is Team protocol to invite the local fire department to participate in the session. By using a cooperative approach with fire departments and the facility, everyone involved can learn the capabilities of the Team and together address any facility vulnerabilities that may be pointed out.
Please contact the Training and Industrial Relations Officer to schedule a preplanning session. Additionally, to facilitate the session and help facility personnel understand
the Team's perspective, the Preplan form is available to be printed from this website by clicking on the link below and printing from your browser program. It is very helpful for facility personnel to complete as much of the form as possilble before the preplanning session.
